Second tooth lost – Bitter nail polish

Second tooth lost – Bitter nail polish

you lost your second tooth just yesterday as you were at school. Katie, your friend has already told her mom. Her mom texted me today asking about your tooth!

Tooth fairy brought you a puzzle!

You didn’t stop sucking your fingers. We ended up putting bitter nail polish on your fingers. You woke up a couple of times during the night and cried. Daddy calmed  you down. You accepted only him to hold you and calm you down. It was MUCH better than what I expected.

In the morning i told you: “this was the very first night in your life that you slept without sucking your fingers. Congratulations”. and you said: اصلا نمی تونستم!

Your vocabulary is second to none. You are amazing.

I will miss the beautiful sound of you sucking on your fingers in the middle of the night. I loved it. I know that your daddy loved it too.

I entered your name into lottary for two magnet schools: 1- Hacienda and 2- Hammer. If we can’t win the lottary we will have to move.

Daddy told you about same-sex marriage

Daddy told you about same-sex marriage

Yesterday, after daddy was back from lunch with his homosexual colleague and his spouse, he told you that not all families consist of a man and a woman.

Sometimes it is two men, and sometimes it is two women.

You were not surprised AT ALL. I guess it is because of your age. Then I added that it is all about love. When you love someomne and that person loves you back, and the two of you decide to spend the rest of your lives together, it doesn’t matter if you are both men, women or man and woman.

I don’t know if we had to wait a bit longer before telling you. But I guess you could understand it anyways.

You are ADORABLE.

Mass shooting in Florida

Mass shooting in Florida

There was a mass shooting in a high school in Florida today.

It just broke my heart, because at least 17 people were killed. I do not like the fact that anyone can carry guns here in the United States. But hey, those guys have the stongest lobbies, and republicans are all for “freedom” to carry guns.

Anyways, the point is, I was so nervous, I needed to open up to someone. So, right or wrong, I told you that guns are dangerous, and that once you see someone carrying a gun, you should make sure to stay away from that person, unless if this is a policeman or policewoman. I also told you to call us and ask us to be picked up if you are at a friend’s place, and you see they have guns in their place.

I was amazed when you asked: “mommy, why are you talking about it to me, now? what happened?”.

I think this was the SMARTEST question for a five years old child.

I love you. Once I am a citizen here, I might join a democrats campaign to work agains gun violence. Let’s wait and see.

Piano Lessons- First loose tooth

Piano Lessons- First loose tooth

Just a note that you started piano lessons this January. Your tooth got loose on Saturday, January 27th. Yesterday you went to school, went around and showed it to everybody!!! That last image I remember as I was leaving your preschool is the heads of a couple of kids in your mouth, with so much interest, curiousity and enthusiasm over your loose tooth!!!

A science teacher and a baker!

A science teacher and a baker!

You used to say that you wanted to be a scientist. Now all of a sudden, yesterday you told me that you wanted to be a science teacher and not a scientist. But you also want to become a baker and work with daddy in his bakery!

You said that you wanted to build your own sciense class, and that you would direct constructors to build it for you.

I told you that you won’t have to be a baker just because your daddy wants to have a bakery, and you said that “it is my always my choice, and I chose to work in his bakery”. Then I suggested, may be daddy can come build the science class with you.  But you said that you wanted to build the science class yourself and keep them separate!

You are so smart, witty and funny.

The topic at your preschool was solar system yesterday. Your teacher said that when she explained to kids, you had to “add your two cents”. After a while, she came up with an idea. She spoke first, then she pointed to you to add your comments on the topic! I guess you will be one of those annoying “know-it-all” students in the classroom.

Your awesome abilities

Your awesome abilities

You are really talented and extremely witty and smart.

You have a great understanding of what is happening around you, and you speak farsi and english fluently, unbelievably fluently.

You have been able to build legos that are for ages 6 to 12. Your talent in art is amazing. You are one of the best, if not the best at pre-school.

You can look into stock charts and tell me if they went up or down. You know that investors should purchase the stocks that are going up. I already explained to you why doctors make more money than artists.

You LOVE toys and shopping toys, and you are very pretty and handsome.

You are adorable.

Your first book

Your first book

You wrote a book!!!

Well, you got a book from your music teacher, titled: Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus.

It is about a pigeon daydreaming of driving a bus, and insisting of driving a bus, but we are supposed to tell him that he can’t drive the bus.

Right after we finished the book you asked for plain paper and said that we needed to change the story! You told me what to write and what to draw, and we made a new book: “Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus”.

We told the pigeon to take driving lessons, and use sticks and gloves, especially designed for pigeon drivers to reach pedals and the steering wheel. Then the pigeon called daddy (you love your daddy!) to let him know that she (pigeon has to be female! everybody has to be female I guess, except your daddy!) could drive. Then in the end “as daddy sticks out his wings, the pigeon drives the bus back home”.

And by the way, the bus driver who is supposed to give pigeon driving lesson is female too. 😀

You are really smart, caring and…rebelling.

You are adorable.

Da Vinci- Books you borrowed from the library

Da Vinci- Books you borrowed from the library

Deeba and I were talking this mornings, as she was watching an episode of “Little Einsteins”, which talked about Leonardo Da Vinci:
– Deeba, do you know that Da Vinci was a great artist and a genius scientist?
– Is he dead now?
– Yes. He died many years ago.
– Ok, no worries mom. I will fill in for him.

At least we know, there is no issue with your self confidence.

I take you to the library once a week. There, I let you choose the books to borrow. You ALWAYS amaze me by your choice of books. You picked the following books this week:

– Thunder Underground by Jane Yolen – It is a book of poems, definitely not for your age. But you LOVE them. You ask us to read them to you again and again.

–  Guinness World Records: Remarkable Robots. (for ages 4 to 8)

– Guinness World Records: Wacky Wheels (for ages 4 to 8)

– Weird but true: Know it all U.S. Presidents by Brianna Dumont

You said that you wanted to make a playmate robot! and you said that because you are the fastest runner, your name should go in the Guinness book of records!

I am so thankful for having you as my child. I wish you a lifetime of happiness, health and success.

Funny pillow talk

Funny pillow talk

You: mommy, may I have your earrings after you die?

Me: Yes. Sure you may!

You: I hope that daddy won’t die!

Dad: I hope that the three of us won’t die.

You: Are you kidding? I am not even close to dying!!!

I am really happy that you are so comfortable with the concept of death. That is the only thing that will for sure happen to ALL living things, including us and our loved ones. Better to be in peace with this truth than nervous and fearful.

Gosh, you are talkative.

You are adorable.

Your conversation with daddy

Your conversation with daddy

Daddy told you that you had to sleep, and that you couldn’t watch clips in bed. You got really upset and told him that he annoyed you. After lots of arguments, you finally told daddy: “Daddy, you annoy me, but I still love you.”

I think what you said is a very complicated concept. I am happy that you have such deep understanding and so much love for your dad.
